The Khangai, the valley and the spring

Six days through the Khangai mountain range taking in the UNESCO-listed Orkhon valley and the ancient capital, with a day of riding in the middle and one of the hottest springs in the country before the run back. It is the same ground as the five-day Orkhon trip with the spring and Hustai added, which is what most people wish they had booked.

Day by day

Founded by Chinggis Khaan in 1220 and built into the capital by his son Ogedei in the 1230s — one of the most important cities on the Silk Road for as long as it lasted. We walk the site and visit Erdene Zuu, the oldest surviving monastery in the country, inside its wall of stupas.
