Fifteen days,
three Mongolias

The longest itinerary we run: the Gobi, the Orkhon valley on horseback, the hot spring, the Great White Lake, Khuvsgul, and the rock art at Del mountain on the way home.

Everything, in the order that makes sense

Five days in the Gobi, three in the Orkhon valley with a day of it on horseback, the Tsenkher spring, then north through Khorgo Terkh to Khuvsgul and back down past the craters and the deer stones. Fifteen days sounds long until you look at the distances: this is the pace the country is actually built for, with a second night in most places rather than a permanent drive.

Day by day

A 30-metre cliff face, 100 metres wide, that looks like the ruins of an ancient city from a distance. It is an old seabed, and the bands of colour in the rock are millions of years of sediment.
